  • Craig Harris, AllMusic Guide - Bob Andy (born Keith Anderson) is one of reggae's most influential singer/songwriters. Many of his songs, written both for other artists as well as himself, have been covered numerous times and are considered reggae standards. Some of his biggest hits written for other artists include Ken Boothe's "I Don't Want to See You Cry," Delroy Wilson's "It's Impossible (Impossible Love)," and Marcia Griffiths' "Feel Like Jumping" (co-written by Jackie Mittoo).Andy first attracted attention as a founding member of '60s rocksteady vocal group the Paragons. His solo career began in the late '60s when he recorded a string of singles for Coxsone Dodd's Studio One. In 1972, these singles, including "I've Got to Go Back Home," "Too Experienced," and "Unchained," were compiled on an album, The Bob Andy Songbook [more] https://www.allmusic.com/artist/bob-andy-mn0000057188

  • Augustus Pablo (Horace Michael Swaby) 21 June 1953 - 18 May 1999
  • Augustus Pablo
  • Augustus Pablo was a Jamaican roots reggae and dub composer, performer, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was active from the 1970s until his death in 1999 at age 45. He was known for playing the melodica. He learned to play the organ at Kingston College, where a girl lent him a melodica. He also met Herman Chin Loy, who after working at his cousin Leslie Kong's Beverley's record shop, had set up his own Aquarius store in Half Way Tree. His son, Addis Pablo, followed him into a career in music, as did his daughter, Isis Swaby. Augustus Pablo died as a result of a collapsed lung on 18 May 1999. He had been suffering for some time from the nerve disorder myasthenia gravis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustus_Pablo https://www.facebook.com/OfficialAugustusPablo https://www.discogs.com/ja/artist/41891-Augustus-Pablo http://www.elrockers.org
  • Jo-Anne Greene, AllMusic Guide - As any business person will tell you, the way to success is through the discovery of a niche or a previously unexploited market. Still, few business people, and even fewer musicians, would have believed that there was a market for the sound of the melodica. Yet Augustus Pablo would take this child's toy and launch a revolution in Jamaican music. Not only was Pablo's melodica unique, it would sweep the entire island's scene and become an integral part of the music of the era. But Pablo was no one-trick pony, he was also a virtuoso keyboardist and his playing permeated the island across myriad of his own releases and as a session man for others. He was equally talented on the other side of the recording desk and his production work was as inspired as his playing [more] https://www.allmusic.com/artist/augustus-pablo-mn0000052151
